Meet the Jinvon!
      by Callista Skip

The special force that Inventor Cretya encountered in Panaway Jungle has a name, and quite the hidden history.

The Jinvon were an ancient tribe living in the Jungle well before Panaway was established.

A loving and peaceful tribe, the Jinvon were bound together by bonds of their common interests, not by bloodlines or species affiliation. The oldest of them were considered their "tribal elders" and helped make some of the bigger decisions for the tribe. A King or Queen was elected at the height of their harvest season, and that person got to act as a figurehead for the following year, enjoying the "royal court" that was elected alongside them.

In this way, the Jinvon lived in harmony with the rest of the Jungle inhabitants... but it wasn't always to be so. By the time the newcomers had made their way to Kemah Karah and had settled Panaway, this is how the Jinvon looked:

The first Panaway Adventurers who made their way into the Jungle to meet the locals stumbled upon gray marble statues -- beautifully carved images of different species, men and women, on simple pedestals. Some of them had markings that glowed as if from within.

No one in the Jungle would speak to the Adventurers about the statues, but their faces would grow grave, their breath caught in a sigh, as if it was a story that would be distasteful to relate.

But, as you can see, it wouldn't stay that way. The first Adventurer to talk to a Jinvon visited the same statue day after day, leaving small tokens of his appreciation for her design, hoping that he may see something new.

One day he showed up as usual, and found an especially unusual sight waiting for him...

She smiled shyly at him from her perch, as he struggled to stop gawking. She had the same markings swirled around her as her statue, and her eyes glowed orange, as did a jewel on her statue's forehead that he had missed before.

She shook her head as he started to introduce himself, laying out his latest offering.

"I want nothing from you, stranger," she said, her voice echoing hollowly in his ears. "We Jinvon will never take from this Jungle again."

Suddenly she moved, sweeping around him, kissing his cheek. "But, thank you."

And that was the beginning of the Jinvon's relationship with Adventurers of Kemah Karah. After a time, the Jinvon lost their shy nature, sometimes going out of their way to help Adventurers, even if it wasn't asked for...

The Jinvon were a curiosity that soon were an accepted part of Panaway Jungle. The other inhabitants of the Jungle still didn't speak of what they might know of the Jinvon, and the Jinvon themselves seemed incapable of expounding on what the original conversation might mean -- why the Jinvon wouldn't "take" offerings from their visitors, or anything more than the few details I've told you here.

This would all change, with the introduction of a few clumsy Adventurers who stumble on an ancient secret...

The plot thickens. I am very curious on why they don't take the offerings. Can't wait to see what more there is to come.

The first one resembles Sukouri a bit, and I love the owl.
