And what a present it is! But he knows it's not sustainable. The older he gets, the more inherent his power becomes, leaking out around his resolve to heat things up, even when he doesn't mean for it to.
Then an old friend comes to visit! Emil, a childhood friend of Asti's, is part of the Sul Striders, a special courier service that traverses Kemah Karah carrying out special deliveries.
Everyone in the pride enjoyed it when Emil came to visit, especially Sev, who found that the wild dog instilled in him the same kind of calm that Asti did... and a fair amount of lust.

Emil always felt that something was different about Sev. Unlike the others, he had plenty of practice with people who had something to hide. He liked the thoughtful dragon, and whenever he came to visit, he made a point of hanging out with Sev one-on-one.
That was how he discovered Sev's secret -- it only took a careful eye and understanding of Conductors to see how the dragon's power escaped his grasp. He knew Sev hadn't talked to Asti or the pride about what inevitably comes in any Conductor's life -- the beginning of his Beholden status.
Emil knew it wasn't his place to push the issue with the pride, but he also felt responsible for Asti... It was in his nature to feel confident that he'd find a solution for everyone sooner than later!

Btw, since no one else has mentioned it, apparently Asti is too in the moment (like Sev) to notice that he's heating up her breast...and maybe other places too.
Or maybe she just thinks it's a dragon thing.
