I really want to start playing but I really need to save more first, how do we create a character?
polkakitty on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 03:39 PM
Well, it looks like my post really set something off. And I feel bad about that, because I've been playing Furoticon since 1st Vanilla, and although it's touched on some things that really don't appeal to me, the developers have always been committed to being inclusive of all kinds of sexual preferences and interests, and keeping the action lighthearted and consensual, and I really respect that a lot. It's the kind of viewpoint on sex that we ought to see more of.
I think you have to realize that most of the vore art in existence is not intended to be a realistic depiction of what it would be like to be eaten alive in real life, and it doesn't dwell on the nastier implications of the idea. I mean, I guess the main problem people have with it is the question of what happens to you after being eaten, but I've always gotten the impression that most of those that really get off on vore aren't focused on the ultimate consequences of being eaten, what they find sexy about it is the idea of dominating another furry, and the sensations of indulging in an enormous meal and feeling another creature literally inside them. And in a sexual fantasy, there's no reason it has to be a foregone conclusion that anyone will die, any more than being into bondage means you have to fantasize about being falsely accused of treason and detained by the kind of tyrannical regime you might expect to lock you up in a dungeon in real life.
For instance, we know that there are also characters in this set that can magically transmute matter into other forms, so that could actually provide a way to bypass digestion (as well as supporting some transformation fantasies.) I have no way of knowing whether it was added to the setting with the intent of using it for either purpose, but I think it's important to realize that vore is only part of the new set, and vore doesn't have to be grimdark.

We've got a Fortune at Vell's End speculation thread going over in the Forums, for those of you who don't check them regularly!
Rennec on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 10:31 AM
@Sigil I don't expect vore to be the only art i see. The problem lies in that I don't like vore therefore i will speak out against it. It wouldn't be fair for me to even try to impose rule when I play saying they can't use vore cards, which unfortunately means if don't want vore cards to be used on or against me the only way to prevent that is by not playing.
Otlan on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 09:13 AM
*Sigh* Always When I'm Broke -_- . I'm saving up for this Next year God Dang it -_- .
Sigil on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 08:53 AM
We don't expect every theme to resonate with every player, but as Callista said, we are dedicated to a game filled with consent and no violence or death. In addition, we just leaked the other themes in the set, revealed by the Auction Card choices, so don't expect our take on vore to be the only art you see!
Rennec on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 08:44 AM
To be honest I am still iffy with this, vore just isn't my thing. Anyhow good luck with it though.
Sigil on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 08:30 AM
There needs to be a term for "softer than soft" vore ;D!
captainbozo on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 07:57 AM
I'm gonna be honest, after being reassured that the vore will be handled well, I mostly just want a card myself now XD
Kaia_Cougar on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 07:52 AM
Sneaky squirrels! The swirley was a red herring! Vell's End huh? My curiosity is piqued.
As for the whole...debate below, I trust you guys to do it right. You've given us nothing but an awesome card game full of whips, chains, tribes, strap-ons and college students, and I'm excited for the future.
RainbowKitten on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 07:41 AM
Oooo, my mind is pondering all the fun things ^_^
Carousel on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 06:43 AM
I am looking forward to the new set... I wonder what might happen. Vore huh? By the sounds of things, soft vore.
CallistaSkip on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 06:35 AM
Hey, guys, woke up to find all your concerns and excitement!
I just wanted to let you all know that we're working on a more formal set introduction, and we'll address your questions on the vore theme. I want to reassure you all very briefly that it's not what you might think, and that Furoticon is dedicated to its "no death or violence" content restrictions. :)
I'm really excited to be able to give you a peek at what we have in store!
Unseen_Evil on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 05:25 AM
The few TCG academies that I can remember are the Yugioh ones and of course, the legendary Tolarian Academy.
Rennec on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 04:43 AM
Yeah.... Mixed reactions should be expected when implementing vore. Definitely a set that I'll keep a close eye on but ultimately avoid.
ezekiel_tyr on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 04:30 AM
so vore... not one of my top things on stuff i like but as long as its not like hardcore vore
captainbozo on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 03:45 AM
okay so apparently vore is confirmed. I am VERY HESITANT.
captainbozo on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 03:08 AM
I do not think that vore would fit well in Furoticon, on principle. It's violent by nature, and Furoticon is anti-violence. It would be VERY hard to work it in, and it would be the most tame version of it possible.
I personally love vore, as anyone who goes to my FA would find out. I don't wanna see it in Furoticon, honestly. I don't think it would work |3
AS FAR AS THE NEW SET GOES, THOUGH, I'm thinking it's gonna be a magic set :D
polkakitty on Aug 20th, 2013 @ 12:07 AM
Aha! It's the swirly symbol, only as seen from the side instead of from the top!
Seriously, though, there are some promising ideas here. I've really wanted to see vore represented as an actual game mechanic ever since we had that big debate years ago on the forums about how to make it work, and it looks like the setting will have much more magical and supernatural elements compared to previous sets, which opens up some good sexual possibilities. Stuff like transformation and mythical creatures.
AceStarlock on Aug 19th, 2013 @ 10:12 PM
Well, doesn't seem like a sci-fi set. Oh shucks! Maybe next time.
Nezumi12 on Aug 19th, 2013 @ 09:42 PM
so, is this the same set that the swirly symbol was for? or is this a different set?
Jurann on Aug 19th, 2013 @ 08:57 PM
Interesting, why did you guys decide to use Dealer's Den this time instead of FurBuy which you've always used in the past?
sinclaim on Aug 19th, 2013 @ 08:42 PM
Very nice artwork on the cards I'm slowly saving money to get started but it takes a while
