-> Sikaah, enter the tavern.
You you take a brisk floaty dash down to the local tavern. Upon entering, you are met with raucous voices from every corner and vicious stenches you never knew existed. It is a hot and musty environment, and the shade from the sun is largely useless with so many bodies in here.
Personal discomfort aside, you are here to recruit some sort of rogue or unlikely ally who will be just the thing to aid you in your quest. As you survey your surroundings, you gather that everyone is currently busy in boisterous activities, except a few loners at a corner table. You approach Lonerville cautiously and explain the situation better than with Dilveen.
"Greetings. I am Sikaah, the Grand Conductor of air, and I'm in need of some hired brawn to aid me in taking down a massive out-of-control flying monstrosity. It won't be easy and I don't even know how to beat it, but I know I can't do it alone. What I do know is that it tore up miles of jungle with an innumerable amount of tentacles. I'll have no problem guiding you into the sky, but if you have a fear of heights, I suggest you decline now."
The cadre looks at one another. One shakes its head, then another. They're declining. The third, a rat, considers the request for a moment. She only makes eye contact with you for a moment, but in that moment, you can see in her dark eyes how gravely she's weighing her decision. Then she leans forward, pulls out a small parchment, and scrawls very quickly, sliding the paper to you.
You look at it curiously, then with surprise! Goodness, that's a large number! But as a protector of Panaway and its precious jungle, you can afford it.
"Thank you so much. I accept your offer... ehm, what is your name?"
The rat shakes her head, stands up and collects her belongings, saying nothing as she allows you to escort her out the door. So much for greetings! You empathize; you are familiar with doing good deeds without promise of survival: bonds with the fallen can hurt, and you can tell she doesn't want to gain another friend just to lose them a moment later.
You got the Silent Protagonist!
-> Return to the jungle to gather information.
-> Take to the sky to confront the monstrosity.

Honestly the reason the striders didn't help was lack of information. Looking for clues was the second thing we should have done. I just hope that this has bought enough time for tentacle fox to win.

Return to the jungle, with the two of us we should be able to find out information twice as fast!

I like Taz's analysis on the situation, clearly thinking with RP logic there.
But to take it a step further we now have a second set of eyes and a second considering mind, so we're more likely to gain information on out hunt. And in the inevitability that that abomination left something behind in the jungle there is now a comrade encase things go wrong. The only concern now is how far can we trust our new found companion.

I'm surprised that we ended up getting anybody, to be frank.
Anyway, if we go in blind, we're now not only responsible for Sikaah's life, but also the Silent Protagonist's. We're liable now. Accordingly, I want to make sure that I do all I can before taking on the "final boss" to ensure that we are as prepared as we can possibly get for the encounter, and that "gather information in the jungle" option has remained there persistently almost this entire time, so undoubtedly, especially after the waste of time that yesterday's post was revealed to be, there yet remains more to be had there. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to give our newfound compatriot the same context of the situation that we will be getting, and perhaps maybe even some experience along the way.
Return to the jungle.
